Location

A small town on the northern coast of Ischia island between the popular Casamicciola and Forio. This is one of the smallest settlements on the island with a charming and untouched feel since it first became a hotspot for luxury spa hotels in the 18th century. The area’s most popular landmark, that yacht charters will get to admire from the water is the “Mushroom”. A 10 meters tufa stone that was created due to the volcanic eruptions of Mount Epomeo. The crescent-shaped Bay of San Montano is an excellent option for sunbathers in the area, and where you will find the Negombo Thermal Gardens, with twelve pools and natural hot pools. There is one more beach, Monache, also known as Varulo that is only accessible by boat just behind the marina.

Navigation

The mushroom-shaped rock of Il Fungo or Pietra del Lacco is visible on the E end of the breakwater. The harbour has 100 berths with a maximum length of 100 metres and depths that range between 1-6m. Space for superyachts is available on the new part of the quay on the outer breakwater. Reasonable shelter with a good hold on the bottom. Outer berths are exposed to swell running. It is preferred to anchor on the W away from the moorings, in 6-12m. Water and electricity are available in most berths and fuel near the quay.

Provisioning

The settlement of Lacco Ameno has shops, restaurants and all other amenities visitors require for a comfortable stay. You can also rent scooters to explore the island. For excellent seafood dishes with a view, don’t miss Trattoria Casa Colonia inside Negombo Park.

Capacity and Technical Data

Despite its small size, Lacco Ameno features various five-star hotels and can be very busy during the summer months. In July, the Ischia Global Film & Music Fest attracts celebrities and movie enthusiasts, transforming the streets of the town into a glamorous and festive setting. Early June and weekdays are preferred to avoid the crowds in the port. It does tend to be quiet during the night though. Overall, a more affordable and laid back option for cruisers around Ischia

Here is a video from the area of Lacco Ameno in Ischia that yacht charters can look forward to.
