What yacht charter are you looking for?
Italy Yacht Charter
A yacht charter in Italy is one of the most luxurious ways to explore the Mediterranean—especially if you’re after world-famous coastlines, high-end marinas, and top-tier service. Italy is a major hub for superyacht charters, with key bases in Naples, Portofino, Sanremo, and Venice, and home to many of the best crews and most exclusive yachts in the world.
We recommend motor yachts for this region—they offer the speed and range you need to explore multiple highlights like the Amalfi Coast, Capri, Sardinia, and even over to Corsica within a 7–10 day itinerary. This is what most of our high-end clients choose when they want flexibility and full comfort.
From anchoring off Positano to docking at Porto Cervo, or pulling up in Venice for a night at one of Italy’s iconic restaurants, an Italy yacht charter gives you access to the best of Italian glamour, with none of the crowds.

Types of Yacht Charters in Italy
You’ll find all yacht types available in Italy—motor yachts, catamarans, and sailing yachts—but if you want to make the most of your time, we strongly recommend a motor yacht. Italy’s coastline is vast, and with the top destinations spread out, having a yacht with good cruising speed means you can easily visit Amalfi, Capri, Portofino, Sardinia, and even Corsica in a single charter.
Most of our clients choose motor yachts not just for the speed, but for the full experience—jacuzzis, sun decks, water toys, private chefs, and top-tier crews. It’s the most comfortable and efficient way to explore Italy in style.
Popular Yacht Charter Destinations in Italy
Italy has a lot on offer for a sailing vacation. From the rugged beauty of Sardinia’s secluded coves to the glamorous ambiance of Portofino, Italy offers diverse yacht charter options catering to various preferences and budgets. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, adventure, or cultural exploration, these captivating destinations promise unforgettable sailing vacations along the stunning coastline of Italy.
Amalfi Coast Yacht Charter
If you’re only going to do one charter in Italy, the Amalfi Coast is hard to beat. This stretch is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a reason—dramatic cliffs, pastel towns stacked like theatre seats, and that unbeatable view from the water.
We recommend starting from Salerno or Naples, both of which have solid marinas for larger yachts. From there, cruise west toward Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello. Expect tight turns, epic anchorages, and some of Italy’s most iconic sights. Don’t miss Li Galli Islands for a swim stop, lunch at Conca del Sogno, or docking in Amalfi to wander the cathedral steps. It’s busy in high season but completely worth it.
Ligurian Riviera Yacht Charter
The Ligurian Riviera, also known as the Italian Riviera, is a coastal area in the northwest part of Italy, stretching from the French border to Tuscany. It’s divided into two parts: Riviera di Levante (east of Genoa) and Riviera di Ponente (west of Genoa).
Portofino is the crown jewel, and you’ll want to either moor in the harbor (we will make sure you actually get a spot) or anchor just outside. Sanremo to the west is buzzy and chic, while the Cinque Terre villages—Monterosso to Riomaggiore—are best seen from the sea. This is where small towns meet big yachts. Perfect for a shorter charter or as a stylish stop on a cross-country route.
Sardinia Yacht Charter
Luxury motor yachts love Sardinia, and for good reason. The Costa Smeralda is superyacht central—Porto Cervo is flashy, but the Maddalena Archipelago just north is pure wild beauty. We recommend a loop starting in Olbia, through the archipelago, and if you have time, cross to Bonifacio in Corsica. Bonus: Sardinia has some of the best beach clubs in the Med, plus secluded coves where you can have an entire bay to yourself.
Sicily Yacht Charter
Want something raw, cultural, and under the radar? Sicily’s east coast is a magical destination. Start in Catania or Milazzo, then head north to the Aeolian Islands—Lipari, Salina, Panarea, and the showstopper, Stromboli (with its still-active volcano). You can anchor and watch it erupt at night. For a more cosmopolitan vibe, dock in Palermo or Taormina and explore the island’s food, ruins, and energy.
Venice Yacht Charter
Possibly one of the most iconic destinations in the world, Venice is a place you must visit at least once in your life. Built across a network of 118 small islands separated by canals and connected by bridges, Venice is renowned for its stunning architecture, artistic heritage, and romantic ambiance.
Although not your typical yacht charter destination, it is a must-do at least once. Venice isn’t about cruising—it’s about arrival. There are a few proper marinas nearby (we recommend Marina Sant’Elena), and from there, you can explore the city or the outer lagoon islands like Burano and Torcello. It’s more about the experience than the sailing—but what an experience.

How Much Does an Italy Yacht Charter Cost?
Prices vary depending on yacht type, size, and season, but for a fully crewed motor yacht, you should expect to spend at least €40,000–€60,000 per week for something mid-range. High-end superyachts can range anywhere from €100,000 to €500,000+ per week.
Most Italy yacht charters operate on a plus-expenses basis, meaning you’ll also need to budget for APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance)—typically 30–40% of the base charter fee. This covers fuel, food, drinks, port fees, and any extras. Italian VAT is currently 22%, and tips for the crew are usually 10–15%, depending on service.
We’ll help you calculate all of this upfront so there are no surprises. If you’re not sure where to start, just tell us your budget—we’ll recommend the best yachts available.
Sailing yacht charter: $9,900 to $175,000 per week.

When is the Best Time for a Yacht Charter in Italy?
The yacht charter season in Italy typically spans from late April to early October, aligning with the warmer and drier months of the year. The peak season runs from May to September when the weather is most favorable for sailing and exploring the coastal regions. During this period, temperatures are pleasant, ranging from around 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F), and there is generally minimal rainfall.
Charterers looking to avoid crowds or save some money should consider chartering a yacht in Italy during shoulder season, which is generally between April and May, and September and October.
How do I Book an Italy Yacht Charter?
Ideally, you’d inquire about an Italy yacht charter in Italy 12 months in advance. WHY? The best yachts are often fully booked long in advance, and it’s not unusual to see popular dates booked 2 summers ahead. Inquiring less than 6 months ahead often means that your first choice is unavailable for charter. Additionally, you might find that the yacht you wish to charter can’t make it to the port where you wish to commence your sailing yacht charter.

Louis was great from beginning to end and walked me through the whole process. He helped me find a great boat that fit within our time and cost preferences. He explained the differences between the different builds and the pros and cons. Once we selected the boat, he explained and walked me through the whole booking process and answered all my questions. Finally, he checked in with me before, during, and after the charter to make sure everything met our expectations. I can’t recommend Louis enough if you are planning a charter, and I will definitely be in touch for our next trip!
