Capri is a charter location in Amalfi Coast, a yacht charter area in Italy.

Visit Capri by Yacht

Capri is one of the most visited and well-known destinations in Italy and a staple stop on luxury yacht charters in the Gulf of Naples and the Amalfi Coast. Sitting just off the Sorrento Peninsula, it’s an easy run from Sorrento and Naples, and it also fits naturally into itineraries coming up from Positano and Amalfi. The island draws both yacht guests and day-trippers, and in high season it can be intensely busy—so if you want to see the classics without queues, it’s worth planning your visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon once the day-tripper rush starts to thin out.

A celebrity hotspot, this is the island that inspired Jackie Kennedy’s timeless Capri sandal look and has been a haven for celebrities like Audrey Hepburn and Leonardo DiCaprio. Capri expertly caters to the mega-rich and wealthy clientele that visit its shore, offering unique and luxurious experiences from dining to entertainment and, of course, shopping. Its exclusive and high-end vibe will amaze everyone who visits and leave you wanting more.

Where is Capri Island Located?

Capri lies just off the southern coast of Italy at the entrance to the Gulf of Naples, a short run from Sorrento and well placed for the Amalfi Coast to the south. The island has two centres: Capri Town (the famous Piazzetta and designer shopping) and Anacapri (higher, a little calmer, and closer to some of the best viewpoints).

Marinas & Docking in Capri

Marina Grande is the main port in Capri, and where most visitors will arrive. Located on the northern bay overlooking the Gulf of Naples, this is where the larger vessels can be found. It is recommended to approach from the N side. High traffic from larger ferries and hydrofoils has priority, which could be stressful for novice skippers. Depth varies between 2 to 8 meters, and the yacht basin is spacious with room for 300 berths in total. Prices can be quite high, especially during peak season.

Alternatively, you can also anchor at Marina Piccola, situated on the S side of the island. The appeal of the bay is hard to miss, with crystal waters and charming restaurants. This is the spot where, according to Greek mythology, Odysseus encountered the sirens that tried to seduce him with their song. The best shelter is under the cove, offering protection from the N winds but southerlies can still pose a challenge. It is an equally busy area and has all the amenities to cater to yacht charters in the Amalfi Coast.

Other smaller bays found around Capri are not recommended for overnight stays due to inadequate shelter and particularly rocky bottoms.

Best Natural Attractions and Water Activities in Capri

Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra)

Clients should know two things: it’s weather-dependent and it can be crowded. When conditions allow, we plan it early. The visit itself is by small rowboat through a low entrance, and it’s one of those “only here” natural experiences — but we always treat it as “attempt if conditions are good,” not a guarantee.

Faraglioni sea stacks (by yacht)

Seeing the Faraglioni from the water is a Capri essential. If you enjoy a swim stop, this is one of the most photogenic backdrops on the island — and it’s an easy addition to a round-island cruise.

Round-island cruise and swim stops

A private lap of the island is one of the best uses of yacht time here: cliffs, caves, swim water that feels impossibly clear, and none of the shore congestion. For many clients, this becomes the favourite part of Capri — even more than going into town.

Best Beach Clubs and Drinks in Capri

La Fontelina (Faraglioni area)

This is the classic name most clients ask for, and it’s also one of the most reservation-sensitive. We recommend Fontelina when you want the iconic setting with the Faraglioni as your backdrop and you’re happy to commit to a booked plan rather than playing it by ear.

Da Luigi ai Faraglioni (Faraglioni area)

Da Luigi is a strong alternative when clients want that same Faraglioni coastline energy with an organised beach-club day. It’s a very “Capri summer” choice: swim, sunbeds, lunch, and the feeling that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

Best Restaurants in Capri

Il Riccio (Anacapri / Blue Grotto area)

If you want the most “Capri-by-sea” fine-dining lunch, Il Riccio is our go-to. It sits right by the Blue Grotto area and is built around seafood, with the kind of setting where you feel the island’s cliff-edge drama. It also pairs perfectly with a morning grotto attempt and a swim stop nearby.

Da Paolino (Capri Town)

Da Paolino is a classic for a reason: dinner under the lemon trees is one of those Capri experiences people remember and talk about. We recommend it when clients want something lively, unmistakably Capri, and ideal for an evening program after a beach club day.

Best Views and Photo Spots in Capri

Giardini di Augusto (Gardens of Augustus)

This is the “highest return for least effort” viewpoint near Capri Town: panoramic terraces with views over the Faraglioni and Marina Piccola. It’s ideal if you want a quick, iconic photo stop without committing to a long excursion.

Monte Solaro (Anacapri)

This is the most famous attraction in Anacapri and the highest point on the island, sitting at 589m above sea level. To enjoy the spectacular views of the bays below, visitors ride single-chair lifts to the top of the mountain. The ride lasts just a bit over 10 minutes. Alternatively, there is a hiking path to follow that will take about 1 hour. You may also wish to visit the nearby Hermitage of S. Maria di Cetrella, built in 1400 and housing wonderful cultural and religious artifacts.

Best Beaches in Capri

Capri isn’t a “sandy beach island” in the classic sense — most of the best water time is from the yacht — but there are a few shore spots that work well depending on your plan.

Marina Piccola is the classic south-side bay for a swim stop and lunch nearby. It’s sheltered in certain conditions and gives you a very “Capri at anchor” feel.
If the goal is a structured shore day, we generally steer clients toward a beach club (Fontelina / Da Luigi / Il Riccio area) rather than trying to make a public beach plan work in peak season.

Best Cultural Attractions in Capri

Villa San Michele (Anacapri)

A beautiful, visitable villa with gardens and views — and a good “reset” from the busy Capri Town scene.

Villa Jovis (Tiberius’ villa)

For guests who like Roman history and don’t mind a walk, Villa Jovis is one of the most important ancient sites on the island. We plan it only when the group actually wants it — it’s worth doing, but it shouldn’t be forced into a beach-club day.
