CORAL OCEAN Review: Italy’s Most Complete Wellness Yacht, a 73m Lürssen With Two Master Cabins

by Klara Braga Jakobsen, Yacht Reviewer at DMA Yachting

I walked CORAL OCEAN at the MYBA Charter Show in Sanremo in 2026. The photos are mine, from that afternoon.

CORAL OCEAN is a true wellness resort at sea. She is a 73-metre Lürssen rebuilt from the waterline up in 2022, with a gym whose side walls lift open to the sea, an ice bath beside it, a full spa with sauna, steam room and treatment room, and a trainer, a yoga teacher and a masseuse in a crew of more than twenty. Two master cabins make her the right boat for two families, two couples or a family across three generations. If the point of the week is to come home fitter and calmer than you left, she is the one in Italy, and this review is about what that programme is like room by room.

Louis from our team walks CORAL OCEAN with her captain, Thomas Henshilwood.

CORAL OCEAN in numbers

  • Length and beam: 72.55 m (238 ft), beam 13.05 m, 1,528 GT. Lürssen, delivered 1994, rebuilt 2020 to 2022.
  • Guests: 12. Two master cabins, a VIP, two king doubles and a twin that converts to king singles, every one with its own bathroom.
  • Crew: more than twenty, including a spa therapist, a personal trainer, a yoga teacher, a masseuse and a DJ. Captain Thomas Henshilwood.
  • Speed: 13 knots cruising, 15.5 knots maximum, on two 3,516 hp CAT engines. Quantum Zero Speed XT stabilisers, upgraded in 2026.
  • Rate: 650,000 EUR per week in May, early June and September, 790,000 EUR from mid-June to the end of August, plus VAT, a 30% APA and a refundable 50,000 EUR deposit. With 12 aboard that is 54,000 to 66,000 EUR per person for the week before expenses.
  • Water: a glass-bottom pool and a jacuzzi on the sundeck, a 15-metre sea pool off the stern. Toys: a 38 ft Pardo chase boat, two jet skis, Seabobs, three e-foils, a FunAir slide, four electric bikes, water skis, a wakeboard, paddleboards, kayaks, towables and snorkelling kit.
  • Cruising: the Mediterranean from Nice, May to September; the Caribbean in winter.

The gym that opens to the sea, and the ice bath beside it

The gym is on the main deck, and its side doors lift away so the whole room opens onto the water. Inside: a reformer, a Wattbike, a Peloton, a Concept2 rower, a folding treadmill, a weights bench and the dumbbell rack. Next to it, a cold plunge. On most 70-metre yachts the gym is an afterthought beside the tender garage. Here it is the room the morning starts in, and the crew who run it are the reason it gets used: a personal trainer and a Pilates instructor are aboard, and a yoga teacher for the sundeck at seven.

The spa behind it is the most complete I have walked on a charter yacht: a treatment room with a masseuse, an infrared sauna, a steam room, and a beauty salon with a hairdresser’s chair and a lit mirror. There is a spa menu on the counter, the way a hotel has one.

The listing says 1994. Step aboard and it is 2022

She was delivered by Lürssen in 1994 as Coral Island. Between 2020 and 2022 her owners spent two years and 35 million on her, and what came out is not a refit. The sundeck was rebuilt with the old communication domes removed, which gave her a deck of space she did not have before. The sky lounge got floor-to-ceiling glass that opens, a sunroof, a bar and an 85-inch screen that drops from the ceiling. Below, every guest space is new: pale wood floors, cream upholstery, blue fish painted along the corridors, a wall of blue agate slices in the saloon, a glass wine cellar beside the dining table. Her captain put it plainly on our video: she is incredibly modern, as you can see from the interior.

Two master cabins, and the rest of the plan

This is the cabin fact that decides who books her. She has two master cabins, not one: the owner’s suite with his-and-hers bathrooms, a large bath and a separate shower, and a second master her captain rates as the highlight of the boat. Then a VIP, two king doubles and a twin that converts to king singles, each with its own bathroom. Twelve guests. Two families get a master each. Two couples sharing the bill get a master each. A family across three generations puts the grandparents in one, the parents in the other, and the children in the doubles and the twin.

The sundeck: a glass-bottom pool, a DJ and dinner somewhere new every night

The sundeck is where the rebuild shows most. The pool has a glass bottom and glass balustrades, so from the deck below you see the swimmers overhead. A jacuzzi sits forward of it, a bar under the hardtop, and a DJ booth with the screen for the night. With more than twenty crew the hosting runs like a hotel’s. Captain Henshilwood’s line on our video is that you can spend a week on board and not have dinner in the same place twice, and with the aft decks, the sky lounge, the dining room and the sundeck I counted the places and believe him.

Who she is for

Four groups, in the order I would send them:

  • Two families or two couples sharing the cost, with a master cabin each.
  • A family across three generations, with the trainer and the slide for different ages.
  • A wellness group or a retreat week: the gym, the spa and the three wellness crew used every day.
  • A celebration or an event week: the sundeck as the venue, the DJ in the crew.

I walked her at Sanremo with the sun on that sundeck, and the thing I kept coming back to was how much of the boat is built for guests to use during the day, not only to look at.

What she is for, and what she is not

Wellness first, then hosting, then sport and the toys, and quiet when you want it: with more than twenty crew and this much deck, twelve people can be apart all afternoon. She is not for covering distance. Thirteen knots is a cruising speed for the Riviera, Corsica and Sardinia at anchor, not for a sprint down to Sicily and back in a week.

The one thing to know before you book: on paper she was built in 1994, and a client who wants a new hull on the listing rather than a new boat in the hand will not be convinced by the date. Everyone who steps aboard is.

Booking CORAL OCEAN for Italy: rate, VAT, base and what to ask

The published rate is 650,000 EUR per week in May, early June and September, and 790,000 EUR from mid-June through August, plus VAT at the rate of the country you cruise in, a 30% APA for fuel, food, drink and port fees, and a refundable 50,000 EUR deposit. For that you get 73 metres and 1,528 gross tonnes of volume, more than twenty crew for twelve guests, a 2022 interior, a resort’s wellness staff and a 38-foot chase boat. Against a new 70-metre at the same rate she gives you more crew and more programme; against the older 70-metre boats on our Italian list she costs more and is the only one that reads as new inside. She is based in Nice from May to September and winters in the Caribbean, so Mediterranean dates are the summer only. Ask which master the principal takes, whether the trainer and the masseuse are aboard for your dates, and for the chase boat to be in the water on day one.

We have walked her and we put her first among our classic superyachts with million-dollar refits and fourth on our Top 8 mega yachts for charter in Italy. The rest of the bracket is on our Italian superyacht fleet page.
