America’s Cup Naples 2027: Watch It From Your Own Charter Yacht

Naples was announced as host city in May 2025, which makes this the first America’s Cup raced in Italy since the event began in 1851. The schedule the organizers published in January 2026 runs like this: the Louis Vuitton Cup challenger series opens on 22 and 23 May 2027 with fleet racing, the round robins run from 26 May to 11 June, the knockouts and semi-finals carry through June, and the challenger final wraps by 4 July. The Match itself starts on 10 July 2027, and the first team to 7 race wins takes the Cup.

Emirates Team New Zealand defends. Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli races at home, and challengers have been announced from Britain, Switzerland, France, the United States, and Australia. The race village will line the Viale Francesco Caracciolo seafront, with the team bases and a fan village planned at Bagnoli, along with a new superyacht marina. Naples also hosts a preliminary regatta from 24 to 27 September 2026, a full dress rehearsal for the bay.

One honest caveat: these dates are as announced, and big events move details as they firm up. We re-verify the schedule and the on-water rules before any client books around them.

The AC75s foil at up to 50 knots a few hundred meters from a city of a million people, so the shore will be packed. From the water it is a different event. Based on how Barcelona ran it in 2024, the organizers kept an exclusion zone around the racecourse with designated spectator-boat zones right beside it. Spectator boats registered with the event, stayed mobile rather than anchoring during racing, and were positioned by marshals. Naples has not published its 2027 spectator rules yet, and when it does, placing your yacht correctly is our job, not yours.

What that buys you in practice: you watch the starts and the foiling from the closest legal water, with lunch served on deck instead of a 3-hour hunt for a table on the seafront. And when racing wraps for the day, everyone else joins a crowd. You pull up the anchor and are swimming off Capri before dinner.

The Bay of Naples is a natural amphitheater. The city and the race village sit along the northern shore, Vesuvius stands to the east, Ischia and Procida guard the western entrance, and Capri closes the bay to the south. On race days your yacht holds with the spectator fleet off the seafront. Overnight you will not want to stay there, and you do not need to: the anchorages off Capri and Ischia are an easy cruise away, and nothing in the bay is more than about 2 hours apart. Most hops are under 1 hour, which is exactly how we like a charter day to run.

The Cup gives the week its spine, not its whole itinerary. Between race days you are sitting in the middle of the best cruising ground in Italy: a swim at the Faraglioni rocks, lunch in Positano, the thermal springs on Ischia, and the whole Amalfi Coast around the corner of the Sorrento peninsula. In 2027 the week comes with the fastest race boats on the planet in the front yard, and a city that has waited 176 years to host them.

Expect Cup week to price above a normal July week and to book out far earlier. That is what a one-off event does to a fixed fleet, the same way New Year’s week works in St Barts. We will not invent a number for the premium before owners publish rates, but the practical advice is simple: decide early. The yachts we would actually recommend for race week will be spoken for 12 months out.
