Perini Navi builds large sailing yachts at Viareggio in Tuscany, mostly ketches of 40 to 70 metres. A Perini is the choice when you want to sail, with the space and service of a motor superyacht.
Who builds Perini Navi yachts, and what makes one different?
Perini Navi was founded by Fabio Perini at Viareggio in 1983 and is now part of The Italian Sea Group. Its yachts are built around powered sail handling, with captive winches that let a small crew set and trim very large sails.
Across the 65 Perini Navi yachts on our books, the typical yacht takes twelve guests in five cabins. The three we profile for Italy take six to ten, which leaves more room per guest.

The rate is for the yacht and crew only. A sailing yacht burns far less fuel than a motor yacht, so the Advance Provisioning Allowance on a Perini often sits nearer 25% than 30%.
Italian VAT of 22% is added to the charter fee for a week that starts in Italy. Our Italy yacht charter cost guide walks through every line, and the Italian charter VAT page explains what the 22% applies to.

JASALI II is a 174 foot Perini Navi from 1998, based in La Spezia, at €195,000 to €215,000 a week. She takes ten guests in five en-suite cabins with eleven crew, and has stabilisers at anchor and under way.
ELLEN is a 133 foot Perini from 2001, refitted in 2024 and based in Monaco, at €75,000 to €85,000 a week. She suits a smaller group, with water skis, wakeboards, four paddleboards and two kayaks aboard.
Which Perini is the entry point?
HERITAGE M is a 110 foot Perini from 2000, refitted in 2024, at €45,000 to €58,000 a week for eight guests in three suites. She carries scuba gear for certified divers and a 5.35 metre tender for water skiing.
She is based in Malta, a short passage from Sicily and the Aeolian Islands. That makes her the natural Perini for a southern Italy week.
Where does a Perini charter in Italy start?
The three profiled Perinis start from three different coasts:
- Liguria: JASALI II is based in La Spezia, beside the Cinque Terre and a day’s sail from Portofino.
- The Riviera: ELLEN is based in Monaco, for Portofino, Corsica and the north of Sardinia.
- Sicily: HERITAGE M comes up from Malta, for the Aeolian Islands and the east coast of Sicily.
Wind decides more on a sailing week than on a motor yacht, so the route stays flexible. Our guide to where to start an Italy yacht charter compares the ports.
What is included in a Perini charter rate, and what is extra?
Every yacht on this page charters on plus-expenses terms:
- Included: the yacht, her crew, insurance and the water toys she carries.
- APA, about 25 to 30%: fuel, food, drinks and marina berths, paid up front and accounted for by the captain. Whatever you do not spend comes back to you.
- VAT, 22%: charged on the charter fee for a week that starts in Italy. It is not charged on the APA.
- Gratuity: at your discretion. In the Mediterranean it usually falls between 5 and 15% of the charter fee.
Our page on how the APA works in Italy shows what moves the APA, and the one on marina versus anchor nights covers berth costs in Capri and Porto Cervo.
When should you book a Perini for Italy?
For July and August, book nine to twelve months ahead. Large sailing yachts are few, and each Perini is a one-off.
June and September bring steadier sailing breezes and lower rates. Our guide to the best time for an Italy yacht charter compares the months region by region.
Is a Perini the right yacht, or should you look at a motor yacht?
Choose a Perini if you want to sail, with superyacht space and service. If speed and a beach club matter more than the sailing, see our Benetti and Sanlorenzo guides.
Every sailing yacht we list for Italy is on our Italy sailing yacht charter page, and the classic yachts are on our list of refitted classic superyachts.
