EMOCEAN Review: The Award-Winning Explorer With an Infinity Pool on Top and a Beach Deck at the Waterline

by Klara Braga Jakobsen, Yacht Reviewer at DMA Yachting

I walked EMOCEAN at the MYBA Charter Show in Sanremo in 2026 with John, Martina and Daniel from our team. The photos are mine, from that afternoon.

EMOCEAN is the award-winning explorer with an infinity pool on top, a wine wall in the saloon and a beach deck right at water level. She is a 38-metre Rosetti from 2021, the yard’s first explorer and a World Superyacht Award winner, and we booked her for a client in Italy this June.

Her sundeck holds a 3.5-metre pool with a waterfall and a jacuzzi, and closes into a glass winter garden when the weather turns. Her saloon is clean, sharp and colourful, with a 150-bottle wine wall and a glass floor over the stairs. Her stern crane turns into a bar when it is not lifting the tender.

Twelve guests in five cabins, nine crew, and a fuel burn that takes her 5,000 miles on a tank. This review is about the sundeck, the interior, the beach deck, who she fits, and what she is not.

EMOCEAN in numbers

  • Length and beam: 38.2 m (125 ft), beam 8.9 m, draft 2.4 m, 432 GT. Rosetti Superyachts RSY 38m EXP, 2021. Exterior by Hydro Tec, interior by BurdissoCapponi.
  • Guests: 12 in 5 cabins: a full-beam master on the main deck with a balcony and his-and-hers bathrooms, two doubles, and two twins that convert to doubles, each with a pullman berth. Every cabin with its own bathroom.
  • Crew: 9.
  • Speed: 10 knots cruising, 13 knots maximum. About 60 litres an hour at 9 knots, 150 at 10. Range 5,000 nautical miles. Zero-speed fin stabilisers.
  • Rate: 150,000 EUR per week in April, May and October, 168,000 EUR in June and September, 189,000 EUR in July and August, plus 35% APA, on MYBA terms. With 12 aboard that is 12,500 to 15,750 EUR per person for the week before expenses.
  • Water: a 3.5 m infinity pool and a jacuzzi on the sundeck, a beach club with a day head, a hydraulic swim platform, a diving board off the bridge deck. Toys: two Sea-Doo GTX 300 jet skis, two Seabobs, a sea scooter, two kayaks, a paddleboard, wakeboards, water skis, towables, dive gear with a compressor, bikes for shore.
  • Awards: World Superyacht Awards 2022, displacement motor yachts 30 to 44.9 m under 500 GT; Revelation of the Year at Cannes 2021.
  • Cruising: based in the South of France. The Riviera, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily and the Italian coast, Croatia and Greece.

The sundeck: a pool with a waterfall, a jacuzzi, and glass walls that close

Her top deck is the reason to book her. Forward is a 3.5-metre infinity pool with a waterfall falling into it from the deck above, and a jacuzzi beside it. Aft is a bar and a long dining table under the hardtop, with a lounge behind.

The part most 38-metre yachts cannot do: glass panels slide across and close the whole deck into a winter garden, cooled in August and heated in October. A rainy afternoon in Sardinia happens up here with the pool running, not in the saloon.

The interior: clean, sharp, colourful, with a wine wall and a glass floor

BurdissoCapponi did the interior and it is the sharpest I walked at Sanremo: white walls, pale oak floors, blocks of turquoise and sand in the furniture, straight lines everywhere. Minimalist, but not cold. The main saloon has a glass floor set over the stairs, so you look down a deck as you cross it.

The theatre is the wine wall: a 150-bottle cellar behind glass, lit, running the height of the saloon. The sky lounge above is darker, with a big screen and sofas for the evening.

Martina sat down in the turquoise chair by the window and did not get up for a while, which tells you what the chair is for.

The beach deck: right at water level

Her stern opens into a beach club at the waterline, with a day bed, the hydraulic platform that drops into the sea, and a day head so nobody tracks through the yacht in a wet swimsuit. One deck up, the crane that launches the tender folds into a bar when the tender is in the water.

There is a diving board off the bridge deck for the brave, and the toy list is a long one: two Sea-Doo GTX 300s, two Seabobs, dive gear with a compressor, and bikes for shore. She is an RYA training centre for the jet skis, so guests can be signed off properly on board.

The cabins: a main-deck master, two doubles, two twins that bend

The master is on the main deck, full beam, with its own balcony and his-and-hers bathrooms in pale stone. Below are two double cabins and two twins.

The twins convert to doubles and each carries a pullman berth, which is how twelve fit: a primary couple in the master, two couples in the doubles, and the children in the twins with the pullmans. Every cabin has its own bathroom.

Who she is for

  • A primary couple in the master with two more couples in the doubles.
  • A family, or a family across three generations, with the children in the twins.
  • A primary with friends, the same cabins used differently.
  • Design-led clients who want a modern boat and will live in it for a week.
  • A long trip: the Riviera to Sicily, or Italy to Greece, on her range.

What she is for, and what she is not

Family first, then the water and the toys, then the design and the new-yacht feel. She hosts well on that sundeck and she is quiet at anchor on the fins.

She is not for covering distance fast: 10 knots cruising and 13 top make her an anchorage boat, and the 5,000-mile range is for a season’s cruising, not a week’s. Twelve means two children on the pullmans. And the pool is 3.5 metres, a pool you swim in, not one you swim lengths of.

Booking EMOCEAN for Italy: rate, VAT, base and what to ask

The published rate is 150,000 EUR per week in April, May and October, 168,000 EUR in June and September, and 189,000 EUR in July and August, plus a 35% APA and VAT at the rate of the country you cruise in, on MYBA terms.

For the money you get a 2021 award-winner with 432 gross tonnes of volume on 38 metres, nine crew, the only sundeck pool in her class with a winter garden over it, and a fuel bill a fraction of a conventional 38-metre’s. She is based in the South of France and crosses to Italy, Corsica and Sardinia in a night.

Ask for the twins to be set as doubles or twins before you board, whether the winter garden will be closed for dinner, and for the pool to be filled on the first morning.

We booked her for a client in June and we have her on our Top 10 superyachts in Italy. The rest of her band is on our Italian superyacht fleet page.
