Mangusta Yacht Charter in Italy: Cost and Open Yachts

A Mangusta yacht charter in Italy costs about €65,000 a week in high season for the typical yacht, plus expenses and VAT. Across the 58 Mangustas in our catalogue that cruise Italy, half fall between €45,000 and €120,000 a week.

Size decides most of it: a 70 to 99 foot Mangusta is about €42,000 a week, and the 130 to 164 footers about €185,000.

Mangusta is the Italian name for a fast open yacht: long, low, with the sun deck and the helm on one level and speeds that make a day trip from Capri to Ponza easy. The yard also builds larger GranSport and Oceano yachts for longer cruising.

Who builds Mangusta yachts, and what makes one different?

Mangusta yachts are built by Overmarine at Viareggio in Tuscany. The open Mangustas have no flybridge, so the whole deck is one long, sociable space close to the water.

Across the 183 Mangusta motor yachts on our books, the typical yacht takes eight or nine guests in four cabins. The larger ones, from about 100 feet, add a flybridge and more crew.

How much does a Mangusta cost to charter in Italy per week?

About €65,000 a week in high season for the typical Mangusta cruising Italy, before expenses and VAT. Half of the 58 in our catalogue fall between €45,000 and €120,000, and length decides most of it.

Not every yacht in our catalogue is on this site. If you want a size you do not see here, ask and we quote it.

The rate is for the yacht and crew only. Add about 30% for the Advance Provisioning Allowance, and budget the top of that range on a Mangusta, because fuel at speed is the largest line.

Italian VAT of 22% is added to the charter fee for a week that starts in Italy. Our Italy yacht charter cost guide walks through every line, and the Italian charter VAT page explains what the 22% applies to.

Where does a Mangusta charter in Italy start?

Every Mangusta in the catalogue figures above lists Italy among her cruising areas, so a start in Naples, Portofino or Porto Cervo rarely needs a long delivery. JOY starts from Ischia.

Our guide to where to start an Italy yacht charter compares the ports, and our seven-day Amalfi itinerary from Naples suits a fast yacht well.

What is included in a Mangusta charter rate, and what is extra?

Every yacht on this page charters on plus-expenses terms:

  • Included: the yacht, her crew, insurance and the water toys she carries.
  • APA, about 30%: fuel, food, drinks and marina berths, paid up front and accounted for by the captain. Whatever you do not spend comes back to you.
  • VAT, 22%: charged on the charter fee for a week that starts in Italy. It is not charged on the APA.
  • Gratuity: at your discretion. In the Mediterranean it usually falls between 5 and 15% of the charter fee.

Our page on how the APA works in Italy shows how cruising speed changes the fuel bill, and the one on marina versus anchor nights covers berths in Capri.

When should you book a Mangusta for Italy?

For July and August, book four to six months ahead for the 70 to 99 footers, and nine to twelve months for the larger yachts. June and September list lower and the sea is calmer for fast passages.

Our guide to the best time for an Italy yacht charter compares the months region by region.

Is a Mangusta the right yacht, or should you look at another Italian yard?

Choose a Mangusta for speed and an open deck. For the same idea from the Ferretti Group, see our Pershing guide, and for a sportier flybridge, our Azimut and Riva guides.

Every motor yacht we list for Italy is on our Italy motor yacht charter page.
